Some ghost stories can be a little too scary or sad for children. The books featured below are neither. We are a mother and daughter team here at Sage and MI, and years ago we loved a good ghost horse book that didn’t make us sleep with the lights on or cry for hours.
Horse Ghost books are great for horse crazy kids any time of the year, but the Halloween holiday season is an especially perfect time of year for these spooky stories. Holiday themed books are an excellent way to get younger children interested in reading.

Colt in the Cave is our all time favorite. We re-read this book a few times a year, and other books in the Animal Ark series as well. Colt in the Cave is definitely one of the books that sold us on the opinion that ghost horses are not just for Halloween. The recommended age range is 9 – 12 years.
Brave Horse was a gift for Halloween. The story takes place on a ranch in the Colorado Rocky Mountains highlighting a phantom horse named Diablo. The recommended age range is 8 – 12 years.
Ghost Horse was another Halloween holiday book purchase. We loved this story but never did read any of the other books in this series. I’m not sure how many precisely but there are a few other horse books available in this collection. The recommended age range is 6 – 9 years.

We never read this book, but The Great Pumpkin Ride looks like another amazing horse ghost book for kids. The reviews are excellent and it seems quite humorous, with neither a scary or sad description. “A humorous Halloween adventure story for kids.”.

Google Arts and Culture is a great online educational resource. It provides online exhibits, stories and photos from over 2,000 museums in 80 countries.
Search for “Dinosaur” within the app. From this search, you will find a large variety of online dinosaur exhibits and articles. Each exhibit/article features incredible photographs. The dinosaur-related content ranges from excavating dinosaur bones to exploring a museum. There are lots and lots of facts.
There are at least 157 virtual dinosaur tours offered through this app!
Earth experience AR is from the Middle Tennessee Museum of Natural History. The app focuses on exploring different types of dinosaurs.
Pull up quick facts sheets about each dinosaur and view what it would have looked like in 3D. There is also an Augmented Reality feature that enables you to see the dinosaur in your surroundings.
This app has a great dino related feature: the Dino Discovery-themed tour.
It provides you with a unique trip through Utah’s dinosaur country. This app has great facts about the dinosaurs, including information on what happened to these specific dinosaurs.
This app is perfect for studying dinosaurs. Our favorite feature is the scrollable timeline structure organizing dinosaurs into periods where they existed in history. You can select each dinosaur to find its information pages.
The informational pages are thorough. They include a dinosaur fact sheet with overviews like history and scientific classification. Also included are great photo collections of each type of dinosaur and even book excerpts.
The Dino Reference Book combines learning with fun. The app is an encyclopedia of dinosaurs. It offers fun, educational games to help you learn to identify dinosaurs and spell their names. They even provide the pronunciation of each dinosaur’s name!
This app stays pretty entertaining. Our recommendation is to stick with it past the first few levels. The first several levels are pretty easy but quickly become more advanced and involved. As a dinosaur, you bring eggs and food back to the nest and try to remain undetected by other dinosaurs.
In Dino Run, your goal is to race your dinosaur through as many rounds as possible. You collect objects for points and try to avoid obstacles. There are a few ads that play after each round, however, it is still a pretty cool game.
This game is easy to figure out after a while. A review stated that the app made you watch ads before, during and after gameplay however, we did not have this issue. No ad appeared through the first several levels that we played.
This game features a T-rex that you guide to jump obstacles and collect objects for points. It is a score-based game. The scenery and graphics are good.
Coloring pages for Mother’s Day are a fun way for kids to make a card or gift for mom. This collection has pages for children of all ages as well as adults. We’ve chosen a few of our favorites from a range of categories.
Coloring pages for Mother’s Day are also a fun holiday activity. Ideal for keeping younger children occupied while you prepare for visitors.
