Folding Thanksgiving origami is a fun and festive holiday activity, perfect for the whole family to enjoy.  There are many levels of complexity in the origami tutorials making it a great activity for both children and adults.  The result of this engaging paper craft can be cute and beautiful holiday decorations.

We have three favorite decorating ideas with Thanksgiving origami. 

First, use your completed origami models as a place setting at each seat of the table for Thanksgiving dinner.  Not only is this an adorable addition to the table, the kids will love contributing to the holiday preparations.  

Our second unique idea for decorating with your Thanksgiving origami is to create a centerpiece cornucopia, like this Paper Bag Cornucopia,  and fill it with origami fruits, vegetables, sunflowers, acorns and leaves.  

Our third decorating idea for Thanksgiving origami is to string your origami models together to create a beautiful and festive garland.  Different models can be paired together to create cute themes; leaves and acorns, turkeys and pilgrim hats, etc.

In this post we have shared free easy, intermediate and advanced origami tutorials for folding turkeys, acorns, sunflowers, leaves, candles, tables, chairs, apples, tomatoes, corn, pumpkins and pilgrim hats.  We hope you enjoy trying out folding these origami models.  Folding origami can be a cute Thanksgiving tradition that can be enjoyed year after year.

Dinosaur origami is the perfect craft idea for any dino enthusiast.  There are so many different models with varying complexity that makes origami suitable for any age range or experience level.  For a party, there can be many different origami patterns offered.  

We love origami!  Based on our experience with folding, we are grading these diagrams from beginner, intermediate, novice and expert.  Easy and some intermediate models are good starting models for kids.  Novice is my favorite level of models shared here.  They are detailed and easy enough to be feasible without too much time involved in creating.

The instructions shared are in the form of step-by-step photo guides, video tutorials, or diagrams.  The more advanced the model you choose, the more detailed the dinosaur is.  Starting with beginner models you can gain the skills and work up to being able to fold advanced models.

Need paper for your origami folding?  Here are some packs of traditional origami paper and digital paper downloads.  Digital origami paper is perfect if you want to get started right away.  Just download and print some whenever you would like.  The digital origami papers we have shared are all sized 12×12″ but can be resized.  For simple origami models, it is possible to use printer paper.  It is important to note printer paper is much thicker than traditional origami paper known as Kami at 60gsm to 63gsm.  A thin printer paper that will work for folding origami is 75gsm.

Google Arts and Culture

Google Arts and Culture is a great online educational resource. It provides online exhibits, stories and photos from over 2,000 museums in 80 countries.

Search for “Dinosaur” within the app. From this search, you will find a large variety of online dinosaur exhibits and articles. Each exhibit/article features incredible photographs. The dinosaur-related content ranges from excavating dinosaur bones to exploring a museum. There are lots and lots of facts. 

There are at least 157 virtual dinosaur tours offered through this app!

Earth Experience AR

Earth experience AR is from the Middle Tennessee Museum of Natural History. The app focuses on exploring different types of dinosaurs. 

Pull up quick facts sheets about each dinosaur and view what it would have looked like in 3D. There is also an Augmented Reality feature that enables you to see the dinosaur in your surroundings.

Natural History Explorer Corps

This app has a great dino related feature: the Dino Discovery-themed tour. 

It provides you with a unique trip through Utah’s dinosaur country. This app has great facts about the dinosaurs, including information on what happened to these specific dinosaurs.

Dinosaur Reference Timeline

This app is perfect for studying dinosaurs. Our favorite feature is the scrollable timeline structure organizing dinosaurs into periods where they existed in history. You can select each dinosaur to find its information pages.

The informational pages are thorough. They include a dinosaur fact sheet with overviews like history and scientific classification. Also included are great photo collections of each type of dinosaur and even book excerpts.

Dinosaurs Reference Book

The Dino Reference Book combines learning with fun. The app is an encyclopedia of dinosaurs. It offers fun, educational games to help you learn to identify dinosaurs and spell their names. They even provide the pronunciation of each dinosaur’s name!  

Games                                                         

Dino Evolution

This app stays pretty entertaining.  Our recommendation is to stick with it past the first few levels.  The first several levels are pretty easy but quickly become more advanced and involved.  As a dinosaur, you bring eggs and food back to the nest and try to remain undetected by other dinosaurs.

Dino Dash

The graphics in this app are retro, reminiscent of Dig Dug.  You play as a cartoon dinosaur trying to outrun falling meteors.

Dino Run 3D

In Dino Run, your goal is to race your dinosaur through as many rounds as possible. You collect objects for points and try to avoid obstacles. There are a few ads that play after each round, however, it is still a pretty cool game.

Dino Maze Run & Escape

This game is easy to figure out after a while.  A review stated that the app made you watch ads before, during and after gameplay however, we did not have this issue.  No ad appeared through the first several levels that we played.

Run Dinosaur – run

This game features a T-rex that you guide to jump obstacles and collect objects for points.  It is a score-based game.  The scenery and graphics are good.

Dinosaur Memory Match

The dinosaur graphics in this game are super cute. It is a classic memory game.

Cute Dinosaurs Remembering

This app is also a very cute take on a classic memory game.

Some details about the clipart before we cover ideas on how to use them:

  • To save a design, right-click on the image
  • Select save as and be sure to add .png to the end of your file name (example: if your name is “mom” before hitting save add “.png”. So your final file name should be “mom.png”).
  • Press the save button
  • Each image is high resolution; marked at 300 dpi
  • The clipart has a transparent background making it easy to use in any design.
